Senior High Youth Group

The United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF) is a well-established part of many Methodist churches. The Senior High UMYF is geared toward high school students in grades 9-12. Our meetings and events are open to all - so bring your friends!

We are excited to have Chris Kayne return this year as an adult leader. This year Chris will be working with Judy Toone. Along with the Senior High Youth Group members, the leaders are developing exciting ideas for studies, mission and outreach events, and fun times throughout this school year.

During the 2011-2012 school year, the Senior High Youth Group will meet every Sunday morning from 9:45-10:30 a.m. in the Senior High Room, which is located on the second floor of the church. We will be trying this new time in hopes of getting more involvement from the youth in our church. We also hope to see some new faces!

In addition to meeting on Sunday mornings, plans are in the works for a great year filled with fun activities, events, friends, food, and much more! Be sure to check this Web page, the Weekly Announcements in the bulletin, the monthly Messenger newsletter, and the online church calendar for updates on meetings, outreach events, and socials.

So, if you're in grades 9-12, plan to join us for every Sunday morning and for other activities we are having throughout the year. Be sure to contact Chris Kayne or Judy Toone with questions and for more information.

Also, check out the photos of some of our events on the Senior High Photo Gallery page of this Web site!!

Senior High Youth Group Happenings

At the end of last school year, the Senior High Youth Group participated in the 30 Hour Famine on April 30. For these 30 hours we fasted to raise money for support in Japan. We accepted donations and spare change to raise funds. We also went 30 hours without our cell phones to make the event a little more challenging. It was a great experience and it helped us understand more about what is going on in the world and realize how lucky we are to have the opportunities we are given.

On April 17, Palm Sunday, our Senior High Group prepared and served a Pancake Breakfast to raise funds for our youth group activities. The delicious breakfast provided before each worship service included pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, fruit, juice, and coffee.

Over the next few months, we will be talking a lot about more fundraisers. So, if anyone has suggestions, your ideas are greatly appreciated! We are trying to plan two major things this summer. The first is a trip to Kingdom Bound and the second is a weekend in Chautauqua where we are hoping to find local mission work and opportunities to grow a little more in our faith.

Plans for an equally exciting year are in the works. So, join us on Sunday mornings when you can!
