United Methodist Youth Fellowship Groups

Junior High and Senior High Youth Groups

The United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF) is a well-established part of many Methodist Churches. The Junior and Senior High youth programs at WUMC are up and running with our dynamic leaders overseeing both groups, with the help of some wonderful parent volunteers.

During the school year, the Junior High Youth Group, which is open to grades 5-8, meets every other Sunday evening. Be sure to visit the Junior High Youth Group page on this Web site to see their monthly schedule and learn more about the meetings, events, and announcements for this active group. Of course, friends of youth in this group are always welcome!

The Senior High Youth Group, which is open to anyone grades 9-12, meets every Sunday evening during the school year. Visit the Senior High Youth Group page of this Web site to stay informed about meetings and events for this group. Senior High meetings and events are open to all, which means you are always welcome to bring friends!

We will occasionally do a combined event, so be sure to look in the monthly and weekly Messenger for updates throughout the school year. Also, check the Youth Group page of WUMC’s Web site and the online calendar for regular updates and information.

Don't miss the fellowship and fun! If you would like to be informed of the activities, please e-mail us so we can add you to the list.

Looking for Those With a Heart for Working With Youth

We are in the process of identifying those in our congregation who have a heart for working with youth and would be willing to serve on a youth leadership team. One team would serve our Junior High and the other our Senior High youth group.

You might be a parent who has a son or daughter participating in the program or you might be a member of the congregation who’s willing to serve. Either way we’re looking for your help and input!

These teams will be working with Judy Toone and Rev. Carmen Perry along with the youth to brainstorm a vision for what their year will look like and how best to implement that vision.

Any interested parties please join us for our kickoff meeting next Sunday, September 12, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. upstairs in the Senior High youth room. If you’re unable to join us that evening but would like to help, please give Judy or Carmen a call at 634-4800.

Congratulations 2010 Confirmation Class

After meeting for eight weeks with Pastor Nick Perry, on May 23 our 2010 confirmation class was introduced to the congregation. Included in the picture are this year’s confirmands: Samantha Moon, Franklin Cassety, Thomas Roesch, and John Quinlivan, along with Pastor Rich Neal, Pastor Nick Perry who led the confirmation classes, and Mina Rohde who assisted Pastor Nick. Congratulations to our 2010 confirmands!

Junior and Senior High Youth Group Begins September 12!

Join Judy and Carmen on September 12 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. upstairs in the Senior High room as we map out the year (or at least the first half!) and figure out the when, what, how, and who. When will we meet? What do we want the year to look like? How are we going to accomplish this? And who’s going to help us do this? We have lots to and figure out, so we need everyone to be there so we can hear your ideas! See you then!
