| Rally Day - September 12 - Thursday, September 02, 2010 Sunday, September 12, is Rally Day and we have a special day planned for everyone! There will be refreshments on the lawn after the 10:00 a.m. worship service. We will also take a new all church picture that will be made into a banner. Please be sure you and your family are here to be included in the picture.
It’s not just Rally Day – it is also “Meet Your Teacher Day!” This year’s theme is based on the parables of the Lost Sheep and the Lost Coin, so we will need lots of children there to help us find them! After the children’s message on September 12, children will leave with their Sunday school teachers for the remainder of the service. We are so excited to hear all about your fabulous summers and any “Road Trip God Sightings” you might have had! |
| Sunday School Resumes September 19 - Thursday, September 02, 2010Sunday school classes will resume on September 19. Classes will be held each Sunday between the two worship services from 9:45-10:30 a.m. Registration and permission forms for youth groups and Sunday school can be filled out at the registration table in the narthex after services on September 5. If you miss this date, parents can either download the form from this page of WUMC’s Web site or ask your child’s teacher for the form. We are excited about all the new things we have in store for you this year! |

| Fall Clean Up at Camp Asbury – October 8-10 - Saturday, August 28, 2010On the weekend of October 8-10, Volunteers-in-Mission (UMVIM) will begin removal and rebuilding a boathouse at Camp Asbury, Silver Lake, NY from the foundation up. The current structure is unusable. This is the first of several planned fall/spring camp work weekends around the new conference for the UMVIM community. We hope to work at each camp in rotation eventually working at all six. It will be a time to get to know those from the original four conferences as we work for our camping ministries. If you want to volunteer to help with this project or need more information, please contact Jay Dunkleberger ( jdunkleb@nycap.rr.com). |

| WUMC Food Patry Needs The food pantry at WUMC provides assistance to families and individuals experiencing hard times. The shelves of our food pantry are getting low. Please remember this important ministry the next time you are in the grocery store. Some items our pantry needs include: spaghetti sauce, cereal, peanut butter, canned fruit, soup, crackers, canned spaghetti or ravioli, boxed dinners, stuffing, instant potatoes, juice, baby food, tuna fish, Jello, and pudding. Please place your donations in the Food Pantry basket located in the narthex.
At this time, we do not need macaroni & cheese, refried beans, pineapple, pasta, tomato soup, or canned vegetables. |
| Pastor's Discretionary FundOur pastors have a special fund they can use when local families or individuals need urgent assistance. Gifts to this fund give our pastors a valuable tool when they are asked to respond with compassion to those in need. Donations are accepted throughout the year. Checks should be made payable to WUMC, with "Pastor's Fund" written in the memo line. |
| Knitting MinistryThe Knitting Ministry at WUMC provides blankets and layette sets to children who are baptized at our church. This handmade gift is a loving reminder to families of their child's special day and that they are God's children. If you are able to knit or sew, consider contacting the church about how you can contribute to this unique ministry. |

| Paper Recycling BinDon’t forget about our Recycling Bin at the back of the church parking lot. Please bring your old newspaper, catalogues, magazines, paperback books, hard cover books with the covers removed, junk mail, and other paper to the Recycle Bin. The more we collect each month, the more we receive per ton. |
| Building Use and Set UpWe are an alive, active, and involved church - which is something to celebrate! However, to accommodate the needs of all the groups who want to use the church facilities, you need to let the church office know about your plans at least one week in advance of your meeting date so we can have everything ready for you. You can begin this process by either downloading a pdf version of the Building Use and Set Up form or picking up a copy in the church office. Please submit the completed form to the church office and speak with someone in the church office about the availability of the space and equipment you plan to use. |
