Information About Worship at WUMC

Time of Worship Services
Each Sunday during the regular program year, which runs from the third Sunday of September through May, we hold two worship services - one at 9:00 a.m. and another at 11:00 a.m. The 9:00 a.m. service generally lasts 30 to 45 minutes, while the 11:00 a.m. service generally lasts one hour. Christian Education for adults and children is at 9:45 a.m. During the summer months (June through the second Sunday of September), WUMC has one worship service at 10:00 a.m.

Variety of Worship Services

CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP: At the 9:00 a.m. services, our order of worship follows the Contemporary Praise style that includes choruses and contemporary Christian music led by the "CrossWinds" praise band and other musicians.

TRADITIONAL WORSHIP:
Each week at the 11:00 a.m. service, we bring praise and worship to God through a variety of prayers, scripture, music, and sacraments in a blended style that uses both The United Methodist Hymnal and The Faith We Sing Hymnal Supplement. Our Chancel Choir, Bell Choirs, and Junior Choir, as well as many talented soloists and instrumentalists, enhance our worship.

Celebrate Communion

We celebrate communion one Sunday morning each month during both worship services, and also on special Sundays throughout the church calendar. People of all ages including children who have a Christian background are welcome to partake of communion at WUMC. We invite you to read more about the United Methodist Sacrament of Holy Communion by visiting our This Holy Mystery page.

Crib Room Available

Loving, consistent care for infants and toddlers is available every Sunday morning in WUMC's cheerful Crib Room, which is staffed by Kathy Ciccone and two Nursery Care Assistants. The Crib Room is available 15 minutes before the first worship service and closes 15 minutes after the last service. A paging system is used to quietly alert parents when they are needed. The Crib Room is located on the lower level of the church, across from the kitchen. Please ask an usher if you need directions.

In addition, quiet activities are provided for children who are worshipping with their families in the sanctuary. Children can pick up these activities at the back of the church. Like the Children’s Message during worship, the activities are chosen to enhance the morning’s message and relate to the liturgical year.

Handicap Accessibilty and Other Aids

There is a small parking lot behind the church on Oakgrove Drive that includes several parking spots reserved for those with handicapped hang-tags. A door from this parking lot leads to an elevator that can be taken to all levels of the church. The elevator can accommodate a person in a wheelchair or motorized chair. Please ring the bell at the elevator entrance for assistance.
Large print bulletins, hymnals, and Bibles are available in the sanctuary. We also offer comfortable ear-sets that provide improved listening.

Parking

There is limited off-street parking in the lot across the street from the church on Oakgrove. In addition, you can park in the lot near the convenience store and Ed Young's Hardware on Main Street. There is also parking available around the church on side streets and on Main Street.
