Asbury, Christ, Trinity and Williamsville United Methodist Churches continue to work toward collaboration. As we do, representatives have met from each of the four churches to create a purpose statement.

The United Methodist churches of Amherst are creating a collaborative faith community that helps people grow as disciples of Jesus Christ and live out God’s love in the world. Rooted in United Methodist tradition and shaped by the unique strengths of our congregations, we work together to create a welcoming Christian community where people feel at home, are valued, and encouraged.

We strive to create a place where worship inspires, relationships matter, and faith can grow. And where, by working together, we can make a greater difference through compassion, justice, and outreach in a changing world.

This statement will guide the next steps. Here’s the timeline:

  • April thru June: Four people from each church will work on strategic planning– meeting with frequency– to determine the “how.”
  • July & August: Each church will discuss the strategic planning committees suggestions.
  • September thru Dec: Representatives from each church will meet to discuss aligning resources.
  • January 2027: Begin living into our purpose together!
