For the past several years, Christ United Methodist Church, a reconciling congregation, has sought to stand in solidarity and support with the LBGTQIA+ community. One particular way has been in support of Buffalo’s Annual Pride Parade. This year’s Pride Parade is happening Sunday June 7, 2026.

This year’s theme is: Rooted in joy. Rooted in history. Rooted in resistance. Rooted in Pride.

All United Methodist faith communities of the Niagara Frontier are invited to take part in the parade.  We are encouraging all to bring banners, signs, flags to help spread the message of love and support of United Methodist faith communities and to promote a singular, powerful, clear message that fits the moment trying to win the ‘Period’ award at the parade.  We have set that message as:

All means ALL - God’s love is inclusive

We will be gathering at Christ United Methodist Church - 350 Saratoga Road, Amherst - on June 1 @ 7 PM to organize and coordinate our presence for the parade.  At this point, we have an SUV as our ‘float’ vehicle for signs / banners / flags in addition to those of us walking.  If you would be willing to volunteer a larger SUV or even truck & trailer, please let me know.

On the morning of the parade, June 7, we will gather and carpool as able from Christ Church at 9:00 AM.  For those unable to be present early enough to walk in the parade or not physically able (we will have space for a few to ride in the vehicle), consider supporting along the parade route that day.  The walk itself is from Forest Avenue to Allen Street.

Parade line-up begins in the morning at Buffalo State University (1300 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo NY).  Our lineup zone is in the Highmark Blue Zone between 9:30-10:00 AM. All vehicles not directly in the parade enter the Buffalo State campus from Grant Street and park in designated lots R-12 and R-13.  The Parade steps off promptly at 11 am
