Asbury, Christ, Trinity and Williamsville United Methodist Churches continue to work in collaboration. As we do, representatives have met from each of the four churches to create a purpose statement.

The United Methodist churches of Amherst are creating a collaborative faith community that helps people grow as disciples of Jesus Christ and live out God’s love in the world. Rooted in United Methodist tradition and shaped by the unique strengths of our congregations, we work together to create a welcoming Christian community where people feel at home, are valued, and encouraged. We strive to create a place where worship inspires, relationships matter, and faith can grow. And where, by working together, we can make a greater difference through compassion, justice, and outreach in a changing world.

The statement above will guide the next steps. Four lay persons from each church have joined a strategic planning team that will meet between now and July. Bethany Fabian, Mina Rohde, Dave Reichard, and Doug Young are the lay people from Williamsville UMC.

This strategic planning team will be looking for input in a variety of areas of expertise – outreach, building care, children’s programming etc. If you’d like to help with these smaller teams (2-3 persons), please see Mina, Bethany, Dave, or Doug. How else can you be involved?

  • Please pray for the team and for their work.
  • Please pray that we will be open to the movement of the Holy Spirit.
  • Please pray for our reps at WUMC– Mina, Bethany, Dave and Doug.
  • Please pray for the pastors/worship leaders - Edie, Daven, Gregg, Heather, and Michael - that they would continue to work together to provide collaborative worship and prayer experiences.

Peace,

Pastor Heather
